What is XERF™?
XERF™ is the world’s first multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency treatment.
Using two radiofrequency frequencies — 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz — the system can deliver controlled energy at different depths beneath the skin. This allows your practitioner to create a personalised treatment designed around your skin, facial structure and individual concerns.
The controlled heat generated during treatment supports collagen contraction and remodelling, helping to improve firmness, definition and overall skin quality over time.
XERF™ can work across three treatment depths and ten intensity levels, allowing each appointment to be carefully tailored to you.
How does XERF™ work?
XERF™ uses multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency energy to create controlled heating beneath the skin.
This thermal energy targets the deeper collagen-rich structures while advanced cooling protects and maintains comfort at the skin’s surface.
The treatment works in two ways:
Immediate collagen contraction
The controlled heat causes existing collagen fibres to contract, which may create an initial feeling of firmness following treatment.
Progressive collagen remodelling
Over the following weeks and months, the treatment supports the body’s natural collagen remodelling process. As new collagen develops, the skin may gradually appear smoother, firmer and more supported. Cynosure reports that clinical and histological research has demonstrated collagen remodelling at multiple tissue depths following XERF™ treatment.

What does the treatment feel like?
During treatment, the XERF™ handpiece is placed against the skin and delivers controlled pulses of radiofrequency energy.
You may feel gradually building warmth beneath the skin, followed by cooling at the surface. The intensity can be adjusted throughout your appointment to suit your comfort and treatment needs.
XERF™ has been designed as a “Never-Numb™” treatment, meaning numbing cream is not normally required.
Is there any downtime?
XERF™ requires little to no downtime.
The skin may appear slightly pink or feel warm immediately after treatment, but this will usually settle. Most clients can return to work, social plans and their usual routine following their appointment.
Your practitioner will provide personalised aftercare advice.
When will I see results?
Some clients may notice an initial improvement in firmness following treatment due to the contraction of existing collagen fibres.
However, the full benefits develop gradually as collagen remodelling takes place. Improvements in firmness, smoothness and definition may continue to become visible over the weeks and months following treatment.
Results vary between individuals and will depend on factors including skin quality, age, lifestyle, the degree of laxity and the number of treatments completed.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of XERF™ treatments recommended will depend on your skin, treatment area and desired result.
Some clients may benefit from a single treatment, while others may be advised to complete 2 treatments for a more progressive result.
During your consultation, we will assess your concerns and create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
